Dansen is a farm in the Sandnes municipality. Its attraction is the picture postcard view of the local Storavatnet lake, and its serene stillness only 30 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of both Stavanger and Sandnes.

To get there, take the Rv13 from Sandnes out to the small fishing village of Ims. You’ll see the turnoff to Dansen on your right. Take it and head inland for about four kilometres. You’ll pass waterfalls on your left and have the lake on your right. There isn’t much at Dansen except for the farm and what you really need: peace and quiet, fresh blueberries and a camping spot at the water’s edge.

At Dansen, you can see Norwegians (Hildegunn) doing crazy things such as jumping into icy cold water. Thin-skinned little Australians are not as brave but are working their way up to wild swimming.

If you own a kayak, the interconnecting lakes of Storavatnet, Lutsivatnet and Liavatnet are all well worth exploring.
