Enjoying a snooze under a tree today at Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra when suddenly two ducks went flying as they ran out of the way of a giant squirrel who scrambled up a tree.

Turned out that the giant squirrel was actually a brush-tailed possum. Not very often you see one of them running around in broad daylight. Perhaps it was because of Hildegunn’s recent nursing of two possum babies. Whatever the reason, it was a great moment to share the tree and afternoon with a local. Also nice to sit and relax at Lake Burley Griffin in beautiful sunny weather.
